Elephant (Xang) Cave

Elephant Cave is an important pilgrimage site for local communities especially for festivals including Pii Mai. The cave is in a limestone cliff above Ban Tham village. Visitors climb winding stone steps through many levels up to the Xang elephant stone the cave is named for. The cave and a sunset viewpoint give a stunning view over the plain and to karst mountains. At the ticket entrance there are souvenirs and drinks for sale, parking and toilets. You can also visit Ban Tham village, temple and That Pho Sii stupa.
